Welcome. My name is Em, the founder of Bilum For Mama.
Bilum For Mama pays respect to the women of Papua New Guinea, part of my ancestry on my dad’s side and it also pays respect to all women through lineage, through the present and the future.
Bilum is a traditional woven bag by women in Papua New Guinea, they carry stories, energy and meaning. Their capacity to hold, to expand, to remain strong & resilient symbolises what I honour most about women.
Bilum in Tok Pisin means “womb”. I was inspired to name my brand and this space as Bilum For Mama in honour of the spirit & dedication for those that give, care, support and nurture women so unconditionally.
This capacity to hold & support women and mothers is the medicine this world needs to be well, to recover from what has been and to create a world anew in harmony.
